I was sitting in my desk finishing my first paper for school when it hit me. I wasn't sure what exactly the feeling was coming over me but it was something different than I had ever felt before. A few minutes later I would realize exactly what was happening and what this sensation meant for the rest of my life. As of that moment, Brandy's "Human" album had been downloaded into my iTunes library by someone else, without me knowing about it! My computer must have been hacked! It had to be a virus or something like that, right? So many thoughts race through your mind when you suddenly realize you've been hacked - especially if you're a student with papers all around you. Do I call the police? Do I just sit and wait for the computer to delete the tracks from my iTunes library? Do I just go to a different web site and download them again from there? But alas, I had to decide soon. What would happen to my paper if it were due in two days? (BTW, the song is actually called "Never That Far", but this was already taken by another artist.) Even if someone hacks your computer or steals your information, you can still be aware of it at least a few hours ahead of time. There are many services online that will let you know if someone is going to hack into your account. For example, I use "CleanMyMac", which monitors all kinds of information about my computer, including things like an open web site on my browser. If it notices the entry of "hacker" into any of the security logs on my computer, it will send an email to me with a password for my account saying that someone has hacked into it. It's almost like there are vigilant forces keeping watch over your computer to warn you if something is happening. You can read more about what CleanMyMac does by clicking here . But what about this feeling of something different than I had ever felt before?! What was it all about? As I thought about it, I realized that it was actually not really a bad feeling and I was rather exhilarated. For what did the sensation mean, exactly? At first, I did not know how to answer these questions and I wondered if maybe there were somehow "rules" to this kind of thing that I had not yet learned yet. I began to think about it and as I did, I realized that there were several different types of human beings. I would not be able to identify them all at first but over time this would become clearer to me. Some of us are just regular people, totally oblivious to what is going on around us. When you see them walk along the street or sit in their cubicles at work, they are unaware of anything but what they are doing right then and there. There are so many people like this...the key thing about them is that they are simply "people" - nothing more or less - who have not yet become aware of how the universe actually works. 8eeb4e9f32 12
